Akwa United assistant coach Umar Abdullahi has lamented over his team’s challenges in converting chances after their goalless draw against Rangers in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Promise Keepers played to a 0-0 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday. The draw left them in the 18th spot in the NPFL table.
After the game, Abdullahi said, “While it’s disappointing that we didn’t secure the win, I believe we played well and controlled much of the game. We aimed for a victory, and although the match resulted in a draw, it highlights areas for growth.”
He acknowledged the team’s ability to create opportunities, noting, “We generated several chances but need to focus more on converting those. This is a common challenge in our recent matches.”

“It was a well-deserved victory,” Finidi said after the match. “Our goalkeeper made an excellent save that was crucial to maintaining our lead.”
Acknowledging the challenges of the match, he added, “We approached the game knowing it would be tough. The players demonstrated great effort, and I commend them for their commitment.”
With the victory, Rivers United ascended to the top of the NPFL table.
