El-Kanemi Warriors returned to NPFL football after a one-week Borno flood-induced break, to shock Nasarawa United at home.
Recall that El-Kanemi Warriors had to be forced to miss the NPFL matchday two last weekend because of the flood disaster in their home state, Borno.
Despite the setback, they returned to the league with a big bang earlier today, September 21, when they took on Nasarawa United away at the Lafia Township Stadium.
During the game, the newly promoted NPFL side, came from two goals down to score three goals within the first 37 minutes of the encounter.
Nasiru Salihu started the comeback in the 27th minute and completely canceled out Anas Yusuf’s brace in the 32nd minute. Three minutes later, Al-Amin Umar gave El-Kanemi Warriors the lead for the first time in the encounter.
In the second half, Yusuf completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute and it was looking like the game would end in a draw before El-Kanemi Warriors completed their perfect comeback from the penalty spot.
The 4-3 comeback win has pushed El-Kanemi Warriors to the 4th spot on the league table pending the outcome of the other matchday three games.
Meanwhile, Rivers United continued their unbeaten run earlier today away against Lobi Stars. Kabiru Abdullahi scored the lone goal in the 1-0 win.
Based on the slim win, Rivers United top the NPFL table with 7 points in three games after two wins and one draw so far this season.
