The new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed the chances of the opposition parties in Nigeria challenging his party in the 2027 elections.
According to Yilwatda, the APC has zero fears about the threats posed by opposition parties in the country, including the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“There is no opposition for now,” he said during an interview appearance on Thursday with Channels Television shortly after he emerged as the ruling party’s chairman.
He boasted that the APC won the 2023 elections massively and has been winning almost all bye-elections and off-season governorship contests after that with landslide victories, hence the 2027 presidential election would not be an exception.
“Zero fears,” he said about the chances of the opposition coalition usurping the APC in 2027.
“Why is it that all the by-elections in the last two years were all won by the APC and in landslide victories, in most cases?” he quipped.
Apart from winning elections, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs vowed to unite the party and bring in more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties to join the APC.
“My job is to unite the party, (and) to expand the party. We have 23 governors and we are still counting. My job is to bring in more. We would do legwork and bring in more,” he said.
