The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced its initiative to enhance access to clean energy nationwide by establishing additional Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Abuja, Ibadan, and Abeokuta.
Naija News reports that the company announced this on Monday, reiterating its commitment to expanding clean energy access, one city at a time.
NNPCL is diligently working to expand its network of CNG fueling stations throughout Nigeria, with a particular focus on Lagos and Abuja.
These stations are part of a larger strategy aimed at encouraging the use of CNG as a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative to conventional fuels such as petrol.
“We are now operational in Abeokuta, Abuja, and Ibadan. With each new location, we are bringing Nigerians closer to cleaner and more affordable energy for their daily transportation needs,” the NNPCL stated in a notification on Monday, June 23.
NNPC has previously established CNG stations in several locations, such as Lateef Jakande (Agidingbi), Agege Motor Road (Mushin), Lekki-Epe Expressway (Sangotedo), and Mobile Road (Apapa).
Recently, six additional mobile CNG refuelling stations were launched at Fola Agoro (Shomolu LGA), Alapere SS, Marina, Agege Bypass (Idimangoro), Lakowe SS, and Odogunyan SS (Ikorodu).
The CNG stations situated in Lagos and Abuja possess the capability to dispense more than six million standard cubic feet of CNG daily, serving around 15,000 vehicles each day.
