Saudi Pro League club, Al-Hilal, have announced the signing of Brazilian winger, Neymar earlier today, August 15, 2023.
The 31-year-old Brazilian winger who has been at Paris Saint Germain for six years, joins Al-Hilal after signing a two-year deal with them which means he is expected to stay in Saudi Arabia until June 30, 2025.
Before now, Neymar have two years left on his contract with PSG which means that he was expected to remain in Paris until 2025 but the club’s fans don’t want to see him at the club.
To make matters worst for him, PSG’s new manager, Luis Enrique does not also have the former FC Barcelona winger in his plans which made it easier for PSG to let him go.
Interestingly, Neymar was ready to leave PSG but wanted to return to FC Barcelona which he left in 2017 for a world record transfer fee worth €222 million.
Unfortunately for him, FC Barcelona couldn’t afford to buy the injury-prone winger. He was also offered to other top European clubs, but no side reportedly wanted to sign him.
Hence, he had to buy into the idea of playing for Al-Hilal, who have been trying to sign a mega superstar footballer from Europe after Kylian Mbappe refused to negotiate with them.
PSG accepted Al-Hilal’s €90 million offer for Neymar which is over €132 million short of the amount it cost them to bring him from Spain to France 6 years ago.
Also, Neymar is expected to be three times richer in Saudi Arabia as Al-Hilal is reportedly expected to pay him over €160 million in the two years he is expected to play in the middle east.
