Nathan Tella Quashes Exit Rumours From Bayer, Deco Speaks On Nico Williams Move

Nathan Tella

Nigeria international Nathan Tella has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, declaring his commitment to the Bundesliga side.

Nathan Tella, who joined Leverkusen two years ago after spells at Southampton and Burnley, enjoyed a solid campaign with Die Werkself last season, contributing two goals and four assists in 27 appearances.

Despite reported interest from Premier League clubs, the 25-year-old insists he is staying put.

“I’m still happy to be here at Bayer Leverkusen,” Tella told reporters. “I want to stay here. This is the club that signed me, and it’s an honour for them to sign me.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona sporting director Deco has made it clear that friendship will not influence transfer decisions at the Catalan club, amid ongoing talks to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

Reports suggest the 22-year-old Spain international has already agreed to a six-year contract with Barcelona, but final negotiations between the two LaLiga clubs are still ongoing.

“Nico’s name was already on the table last season, the idea of signing him has always been there,” Deco stated.

Commenting on Williams’ close bond with teenage Barca sensation Lamine Yamal, Deco added: “Their friendship is a nice bonus, of course. But this isn’t a club for friends, we’re here to work and to win.”

Williams’ potential move is expected to be one of the headline deals of the summer transfer window in Spain.
