NASS Sends Message To Natasha’s Lawyer On Her Reinstatement

Sexual Harassment: Thanks For Standing With Me - Natasha Tells Ezekwesili

The National Assembly has responded to the legal team of suspended Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that her recall remains subject to internal Senate deliberation, as the court judgment did not explicitly compel the Upper Chamber to reinstate her.

This was contained in a letter issued by the Clerk of the National Assembly, through the Director of Litigation and Counselling, Charles Yoila, in response to a demand letter from Natasha’s counsel, Michael Jonathan Numan.

In the letter titled “RE: Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan V. CNA & 30 Ors, Forwarding of Court Order and Demand for Compliance”, the National Assembly maintained that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, did not issue a binding order for the Senate to recall the embattled lawmaker.

The statement reads, “I am directed to reply to your letter to the Clerk to the National Assembly, dated 11th July, 2025.

“From our summary of the judgment order, there is no order made on the 4th day of July, 2025, by Hon. Justice B.F.N. Nyako for the Senate, President of the Senate, or National Assembly to comply with.

“The declaratory judgment merely advised the Defendants to exercise their power to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and allow her to resume representing the people who sent her to represent them.

“Accordingly, you may wish to advise your client to await the action of the Senate to exercise their power of recall as advised by the court and in terms with the judgment of the Honourable Court, please.”
