Italian Serie A former champions Napoli are reportedly considering including Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in a potential deal to bring Romelu Lukaku to the club.
Reports from football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggest that Napoli is actively seeking a resolution for the uncertain future of Victor Osimhen as they aim to secure the services of Lukaku for their manager, Antonio Conte, this summer.
Note that before the 2023-2024 season ended, Osimhen and Napoli have agreed to part ways if a suitor is ready to pay for his €130 million release clause which was included in the contract he signed with the club in December 2023.
Due to his consistency in scoring double digits of goals in his last three seasons at Napoli, a good number of clubs have shown interest in his services but they were unable to pay for his release clause.
Paris Saint Germain and Osimhen have agreed on personal terms but the demands of Napoli frustrated the move earlier this month.
Hence, the Italian side, who are strongly interested in Chelsea’s out-of-favour striker, Romelu Lukaku, are considering alternative ways of selling the 25-year-old striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Since Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in Osimhen, the Italian side is said to be considering using that as leverage to get their target, Lukaku.
“Napoli keep looking for solutions for Victor Osimhen as they want to bring in Romelu Lukaku as soon as possible,” Romano wrote on his X page earlier today, July 29.
“Understand Napoli could also be open to discussing Osimhen as part of Lukaku’s talks with Chelsea.
“Osimhen said yes to PSG, but deal in stand-by between clubs.”
