Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has linked the threats to her life and family to her open declaration of her political stand during the last presidential election in Nigeria.
Naija News reports that the businesswoman, whose shop in Lagos was recently gutted by fire, also linked the incident to her vocal demand for justice in the case of late singer Mohbad.
Ojo made this known in a lengthy Instagram post while reacting to a video showing a group of men who staged a protest against her.
They chanted death wishes and accused her of blocking justice for the late singer.
Responding to the allegations, the actress stated that she never accused anyone of being responsible for the singer’s death.
She said her reaction was emotional, based on disturbing videos that circulated at the time, and that she only used her platform to call for proper investigations.
“I am fully aware that because of my political opinions during the last elections, I have been subjected to intimidation, sponsored attacks, and personal insults. However, those views were honest personal expressions, which I strongly believe should not result in vendettas or attacks from any individual or group of persons.
“Without an iota of doubt, I have recently found comfort in the scriptures, which state that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God will deliver me from them all”, the statement read in part.
