Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has said his administration would make Aba a business hub by equipping its markets with cutting-edge technology.
Governor Otti said this on Friday while flagging off the remodelling and reconstruction of the Aba Ekeoha Market.
Otti promised to ensure the market shops were allocated to the original owners. He noted that the facelift would help to improve the security of the market and give the traders a real-time global interaction.
He added that the new market plan would transform the entire state’s trade and commerce ecosystem.
He said, “Our goal is to establish Aba’s markets as business hubs equipped with cutting-edge facilities, ensuring safety, security, and real-time global interactions for traders and customers.
“The project operates through a Public-Private partnership framework, prioritizing stakeholder engagement and long-term interests. Temporary accommodations have been secured for Ekeoha Market traders during the transition, and financial support will be available for shop acquisition, especially the original allotees who shall retain the right of first refusal in the re-allocation process.
“What we are executing at Ekeoha is a signpost of our readiness to open a new vista in our infrastructure restoration programme.
“Therefore, its success requires the active support and cooperation of all stakeholders. Again, we make this solemn promise that nobody will be short-changed in the course of executing this project in its different phases.“
