CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
On behalf of myself, Mokwa Council members and the good people of Mokwa Local Government, we seize this opportunity to extend greetings to our brothers and sisters from the Christian community on the special occasion of Christmas.
The life of Jesus Christ teaches us the values of compassion, love, honesty, justice, humility, equity, piety, tolerance, forgiveness, and service to others. His birth in lowly, yet miraculous, circumstances did not prescribe his limits, and in facing trials, He demonstrated the power of faith.
As we celebrate the Prince of Peace, let us reject the negativity of the demagogues who seek to turn us against each other just because our faith and tongues may differ. Let us commit to peace and goodwill towards all. We can all, as Christians as well as Muslims, emulate the example of Jesus Christ. We can strive to be better than we are today, combining our faith with exemplary conduct.
Let us also reach out in love and compassion to our fellow citizens who are in distress at this festive season, and I particularly urge you all to remember the most vulnerables among us, especially the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
We pray to God Almighty that the blessings and lessons of Christmas will spread all through our Local Government and move us to be better people.
May the good Lord continue to protect us and bestow His grace upon us.
Merry Christmas and God bless you all.
Hon. (Amb) Jibril Abdullahi Muregi Executive Chairman of Mokwa Local Government.
