Mixed Reactions As Buhari Fires Adamu, Appoints New IGP

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, sacked Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector-General of Police and appointed Usman Alkali Baba to take over.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed the development during a briefing with state house correspondents in Abuja, noted that the appointment is with immediate effect.

Naija News reports that Adamu was away in Imo State where he visited the police facilities recently attacked by gunmen in Owerri the state capital when his sack and replacement was announced in Abuja.

Until his appointment as the acting Inspector-General, Baba was the Deputy Inspector General in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters.
