Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, expressed his delight at welcoming Dutch defender Jurrien Timber back to first-team training on Wednesday.
Jurrien Timber’s return provides a significant boost for the Gunners as they prepare to face Wolves in their Premier League opener at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 17.
The 23-year-old center-back, who joined Arsenal last summer, unfortunately missed almost the entire 2023-2024 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained on the opening day of the campaign.
However, Timber made a notable comeback against Everton on the final day of last season and was also part of Arteta’s squad for the United States pre-season tour this summer.
After missing the final two friendly matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon due to a foot injury, Timber has now been spotted training with the first team ahead of the highly anticipated season opener at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports, expressed the team’s eagerness to see Timber back in action, praising his leadership, skills, composure, competitive spirit, and intelligence.
“We’re all desperate to have him [Timber] on that pitch”, Mikel Arteta said.
“His leadership, his skills, his composure, the way he competes, his intelligence – I think he’s going to bring so much to the team. We’re gonna love him.”
