Norwegian professional football manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is set to be sacked by Manchester United.
Naija News understands that the Red Devils on Saturday suffered another humiliating defeat to Watford in an English Premier League away match.
Watford who currently seats in the 16 position in the league table thrashed United to 4-1 in a more embarrassing play following a return from the International break.
Though an official statement concerning Solskjaer’s contract termination has not been made public, reports claimed that the 48-year-old manager will be relieved of his duties as Manchester United’s manager.
It could be recalled that Manchester United suffered a 5-0 defeat to title rivals, Liverpool on October 24. Not long after, the Red Devils were thrashed 2-0 by Manchester City.
Naija News recalls that Solskjaer took up a managerial job at United in 2018. Having received accolades in the previous season and in recent performances, the Norwegian has been under pressure.
Solskjaer after his side were defeated on Saturday, had approached the fans to offer his apologies for the result knowing his fate was probably sealed.
The club’s board of directors are said to have called for an emergency meeting to reach the terms of Solskjaer’s exit from the club. After five hours of talks, they reportedly came out with the decision to relieve Ole from his managerial duties.
Fabrizio Romano was the first one who broke the news, Solskjaer reportedly won’t continue as Manchester United’s manager. While options are considered, Darren Fletcher is expected to take the job as interim manager.
