Bournemouth Ends Man City Unbeaten Run As Liverpool Returns To Table Top

Manchester City will kick off their pursuit of a record-extending seventh Premier League title under Pep Guardiola with a trip to Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 16.

After a disappointing 2024-2025 campaign that saw them finish third, 13 points behind champions Liverpool, Manchester City are eager to reclaim their crown.

Last season, Guardiola’s side was hampered by long-term injuries to key players, including Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and star striker Erling Haaland, while midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has since left the club.

Determined to bounce back, City have already made significant investments in the transfer market. But their title ambitions will be sternly tested early on.

They host Tottenham Hotspur, a side they’ve historically struggled against, in just their second game, before welcoming arch-rivals Manchester United to the Etihad on September 13.

A heavyweight clash away to Arsenal follows a week later, marking a brutal run that could define City’s season.

Guardiola’s side will also lock horns with defending champions Liverpool at home on November 8, with the return fixture at Anfield scheduled for February 7.

The Manchester derby at Old Trafford comes on January 17, while the reverse North London showdown against Spurs is set for January 31.

City will meet title challengers Arsenal again on April 18, this time in Manchester, before closing the season at home to Brentford on May 24.

The busy festive period will see City play West Ham, Nottingham Forest and newly promoted Sunderland. Their first match of 2026 is a home clash with Chelsea on January 3.

Adding intrigue to the fixture list is Guardiola’s head-to-head record with United boss Ruben Amorim, who has bested the Catalan coach twice and drawn twice in their five previous meetings. Their most recent encounter ended in a stalemate at Old Trafford.
