A 50-year-old man, identified as Modu Isa, has been rescued after attempting to take his own life in Bama, Borno State.

Naija News reports that the incident was disclosed by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his 𝕏 handle on Saturday.

According to Makama, the event occurred on Friday evening at Hausari Ward and was first reported by community members who rushed to Isa’s aid.

Makama disclosed that witnesses narrated that Isa stabbed himself three times in the stomach before using a knife to cut off his penis.

Reports revealed that Isa allegedly carried out the act after his former wife, Bayanxe Modu of Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, refused to return to his house.

Makama stated, “It was gathered that police led a patrol team to the scene, recovered the knife as an exhibit, and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Bama, where he is responding to treatment.”

He further noted that security authorities have taken up the matter.

“Sources said the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Maiduguri, for further investigation,” Makama added.
