A man has allegedly been electrocuted while trying to steal transformer cables in Gombe State.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the wee hours of Thursday morning, December 16 at Labour Quarters of Tumfure community in Akko Local Government, Gombe State.
The head of the Corporate Communications, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), Dr. Adakole Elijah, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He said: “On Dec. 16, about 3.30 a.m., a vandal was electrocuted and died instantly while carrying out vandalism at Labour 1 Distribution Transformer of Tumfure 11 kv feeder. The vandal attempted to vandalize the upriser cable at the distribution transformer.”
The incident was reported at Tumfure Police Division, and the deceased body which is yet to be identified was brought down.
In other news, one person has been killed and three children kidnapped during the terrorists’ invasion of Sayen lemu village in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It was learned the gunmen stormed the village around 11pm on Wednesday on motorbikes, shooting sporadically into the air.
The terrorists then proceeded to the residence of a leader in the village, Alhaji Habibu, and killed him before whisking three of his children away. Read more
