Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has not signed with Liverpool or any other club yet, despite recent speculations that he agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
Reputable Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Victor Osimhen has not yet decided on his future or reached a contract agreement with Napoli.
Before now, the speculation was that Napoli had offered Osimhen the biggest contract extension deal in the history of the club. Also, reports went viral last weekend claiming Liverpool has sealed a deal with the 24-year-old striker.
On the contrary, the transfer expert stressed that there is nothing concrete from Napoli nor Liverpool, adding that Chelsea still have their eyes on the Nigeria international.
“Chelsea are still keeping an eye on Osimhen, but despite some media reports in Italy stating that he’s agreed on a contract with Liverpool, my understanding is that he hasn’t agreed on anything with any club”, Romano told Caught Offside.
“There is not even an agreement over a new contract with Napoli, despite receiving a huge offer from his current club.
“Osimhen will take his time, but for now I can say the links with Liverpool are untrue. Of course, Liverpool and many other clubs are keeping an eye on top strikers around Europe, but nothing was agreed upon, Osimhen will take his time. We’ll have to wait and see how it will evolve, even if it is sure to be one to watch in 2024.”
Since coming from Lille to the Italian squad in 2020, the striker has netted 65 goals in 111 games in all competitions. Last season, Victor Osimhen achieved his personal best by scoring 31 goals in 39 games in all competitions and helped Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis had expected Osimhen to sign a contract extension with the team beyond 2025. However, after his altercation with Napoli over a TickTok video that made a mockery of him, things appear to have changed in the past few weeks.
De Laurentiis met with Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda multiple times at the end of last summer’s transfer window, and there were rumors that an extension was nearly finalized. But since then, concerns about the future of the Nigerian striker who has scored 6 goals in ten games in all competitions so far this season, has grown.
