
Amid the ongoing state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of the state’s House of Assembly, the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Oversight of Emergency Rule has commenced the screening of nominees appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strategic commissions in the state.
Naija News reports that the nominees are for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Civil Service Commission, and Local Government Service Commission.
This are part of federal interventions to stabilize governance structures during the emergency administration.
The screening exercise took place at the National Assembly, Abuja, and is part of the federal oversight framework instituted following the political crisis in Rivers.
