Lazio’s head coach, Marco Baroni, has challenged Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, to improve his performance as he continues to adapt to Serie A football.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made a very promising display when he made his debut appearance in Lazio’s 3-1 triumph over Venezia last weekend.
Despite this, Baroni emphasized that there is room for further improvement from the Nigerian midfielder.
Baroni praised Dele-Bashiru’s potential and stressed the importance of adapting to Lazio’s style of play through consistent training and match experience.
“Dele-Bashiru has great potential. He is a lad who must understand our football, and to do so, he must train and play,” Baroni said according to Lazionews24.
“We will allow him to do so. We also have other good midfielders who are improving. The attitude was important.”
Furthermore, Baroni pinpointed specific areas for Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to focus on, including improving his positioning on the field and becoming more adept at winning back possession.
The coach said, “He has to improve his posture, he is often closed by the opposition who doesn’t give him the chance to drive forward.
“But when he opens his shoulder, he is devastating. He has to become a ball-winner, but it’s not easy. It’s a complete upheaval, but he made an extraordinary contribution.”
Note that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who is currently 23-year-old, is at Lazio on loan from Turkish side Hatayspor.
