Two officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been brutally injured by suspected kidnappers who were trying to flee arrest.
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen during the weekend, that the suspects stabbed two cops and a vigilante.
Naija News understands that the incident happened in the Adagbabiri community in the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state last Friday.
The criminals were reportedly nabbed by the security men while attempting to abduct their target in the area.
While trying to resist arrest, they stabbed the officers, police spokesman in the state, Mr. Asinim Butswat, confirmed.
“The suspects stabbed two police officers and one community youth while resisting arrest. The injured officers are responding to treatment at the Sagbama General Hospital. The suspects are undergoing interrogation, and investigation is ongoing”, the police statement released on Saturday noted.
In another news, the Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed it killed two suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network, ESN.
Naija News reports that the operation was confirmed in a statement signed by the Assistant Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Levi Philips.
It was gathered that the suspects were gunned down at their hideout in Ugwulangwu, in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state.
This reportedly follows a tip-off received on which a team of officers acted upon and trailed some of the hoodlums to their hideout.
In a gun duel with the hoodlums upon arrival at the said location, the police successfully killed one Ikwe Maduabuchi, 25, and another, Onyekachi John, 28.
