Veteran actor, Patrick Doyle, has spoken in support of Jim Iyke following the backlash that trailed the actor’s birthday message to Kate Henshaw.

Naija News reports that Iyke had taken to Instagram to write a lengthy message to celebrate Kate.

In the post, he used strong words to recall their early days, teasing about how close they were and how she often treated him like a younger brother.

He also shared what could have happened between them if they had become more than friends in the past.

The message also touched on how she had supported him when he was still finding his way, and how their bond eventually turned romantic before things fell apart.

While some found it funny, others believed it was inappropriate for a public tribute.

Patrick Doyle shared his view on Friday, defending Jim Iyke and calling the message a clever and warm gesture.

The Oloture actor added that Kate, knowing her personality, would most likely take it in good spirits and understand the message as a form of admiration.

He wrote: “I think Jim paid my darling sister a very witty and affectionate compliment with his message. The Kate I know has an excellent sense of humour and will accept the compliment for what it truly is, an affectionate expression of admiration.”
