Kano NNPP Rejects Ghari/Tsanyawa Assembly Re-run Result, Accuses INEC Of Manipulation

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has rejected the outcome of the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Assembly re-run election.

The party accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of colluding with politicians to manipulate the process in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing journalists in Kano, the NNPP chairman, Comrade Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, alleged that INEC denied electorates their rights after declaring the APC candidate the winner of the poll.

According to him, the re-run was supposed to be conducted in 10 polling units earlier nullified by the Court of Appeal, but INEC allegedly cancelled results from those units and reverted to the initial results that the court had faulted.

“In Ghari Local Government, the re-run was conducted peacefully at the 10 polling units, but through manipulation by some unpatriotic politicians who connived with INEC officials, the APC candidate was declared winner,” Dungurawa claimed.

Naija News reports that the NNPP further faulted INEC’s decision to announce the result at its state headquarters in Kano, rather than at the constituency collation centre, insisting that the move opened the door for manipulation.

The party said presiding officers at the polling units had already signed the results, which it argued should have been upheld.

Dungurawa vowed that the NNPP would continue to resist what it described as injustice, favouritism, and electoral fraud.

“We will not fold our arms while the will of the people is subverted,” he said.

However, the party commended the conduct of the Shanono/Bagwai bye-election, where its candidate emerged as the winner, describing the process as credible.

It praised security agencies for creating an enabling environment and lauded voters for their turnout.

“We salute the courage of our people who stood with us and voted for the NNPP candidates in all the re-run and bye-elections,” Dungurawa added.

However, as of the time of filing this report, INEC and the APC have yet to react to the NNPP’s allegations.
