The Kano State House of Assembly has denied reports suggesting that there is a plan to impeach the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday in Kano, the spokesperson of the House, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, described the reports as unfounded and lacking any basis.
“There is absolutely no motion or initiative within the House to remove the Deputy Governor,” Shawai said, stressing that the claims were false and intended to create unnecessary tension in the state.
He urged the public to disregard the reports, adding that the Deputy Governor continues to serve with the full support of the legislature.
Shawai also cautioned media organisations and members of the public to verify information before dissemination, noting that inaccurate reporting could undermine political stability.
According to him, the House remains focused on its constitutional responsibilities, including lawmaking and oversight, rather than speculative political manoeuvres.
“Our priority is good governance and serving the people of Kano, not circulating rumours,” he added.
The clarification follows recent public comments by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who had called on the Deputy Governor to resign during a radio interview over alleged political differences.
