The Senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Karimi, has responded to criticisms leveled by his colleague, Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South), against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing Ndume of being driven by a ‘pull-down syndrome.’
In a statement released on Saturday, Karimi cautioned Ndume to desist from making derogatory statements about Tinubu’s administration, urging for a more constructive and responsible approach to criticism.
Karimi described Ndume’s behavior as that of a “loose cannon,” emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and criticism in governance.
He highlighted that many of Ndume’s criticisms appear to stem from a personal agenda aimed at undermining the government.
The lawmaker pointed out that Ndume’s inconsistent approach and lack of substantive evidence in his allegations reflect a desire to pull down the administration rather than a genuine commitment to improving governance.
“Senator Ndume is inconsistent in his criticism and approach, he had been notably silent during the previous administration led by President Buhari from the North,” Karimi remarked.
“Many of Senator Ndume’s allegations lack substantiated evidence and are driven by a pull-down syndrome rather than a genuine commitment to improving governance.”
Karimi further urged Ndume, an experienced legislator with over two decades of service in the National Assembly, to exercise caution in his statements and avoid making inflammatory remarks that could further polarize the polity and divide the nation.
“It is essential for all stakeholders in governance to prioritize the collective interests of the nation above personal agenda and political vendetta,” Karimi added.
“Senator Ndume should adopt a more constructive and responsible approach to criticism, serving as a reminder of the importance of engaging in meaningful dialogue and fostering unity in the pursuit of national development.”
Naija News reports that the two senators, both from the All Progressive Congress, co-sponsored a motion on Tuesday addressing the food crisis ravaging the country.
However, Ndume later granted various interviews in which he criticized Tinubu, claiming the President was unaware of the country’s situation and had been “caged” by certain forces.
