Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced the appointment of Saidu Yahya as the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

This is coming after the tenure of Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado ended recently.

In a statement on Friday, ‎the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, ‎disclosed that Yahya’s name has been forwarded to the Kano State House of Assembly for confirmation.

The statement reads: “Born in 1978, the 47-year-old holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bayero University Kano (BUK) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Venture Creation.

‎”Yahya brings with him a wealth of experience from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he has served in various strategic roles. Until his nomination, he held the position of Team Leader, General Investigations and Constituency/Executive Projects Tracking Division, and was a member of the Directorate of Operations Task Force of the ICPC.

‎”With over 18 years’ experience in the investigation of corrupt practices and other related offences, Mr. Yahya has developed particular expertise in the investigation of bribery and corruption, money laundering, illicit financial flows (IFF), sabotage, criminal diversion of funds/properties, stealing, project tracking, and staff misconduct.

‎”He is also a trainer on investigation techniques and project monitoring/tracking, having undergone professional training with numerous reputable law enforcement agencies and institutions including the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Justice, Defense Intelligence College, Guards Brigade (177 Battalion), Federal Treasury Academy, Quantity Survey Academy, and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, among others.

‎”His combined academic background, field experience, and specialized training have prepared him for leadership roles in both the private and public sectors, especially in areas relating to investigation, courtroom testimony, risk mapping, and strategic operations.”

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has slammed the sacked Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, for making corruption allegations against his government, including the alleged monthly allocation of ₦2 billion to the 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Naija News reports Yusuf speaking during the maiden meeting between his government and the 444 ward councillors on Sunday, dismissed the allegation, stating that Bichi is mentally unstable.

According to him, Bichi’s effort in crippling and throwing the names of Kwankwaso into dustbin would not be taken lightly.

Yusuf further threatened to delete Bichi’s name from the genuine indigenes of Kano for his open attacks on political, religious and traditional leaders.

He said, “I think Baffa Bichi is mentally unstable because of he is sound in his head, most of what he is attacking us with are baseless, unfounded insinuations that have no place in the running of an administration.

“Dr Baffa Bichi, despite series of rejections of his appointment by Ulamas and many other stakeholders, yet we appointed him to the exalted seat of SSG.

“Your (Bichi) efforts in crippling and throwing the names of Kwankwaso into dustbin would not be taken lightly by us, you said all sorts of things against our leader that you cannot prove.

“Let me tell you that Kwankwaso has gone through life, he rose through the ranks politically and otherwise, including being one of the most superior federal Minister of Defence and two term governor and senator but one cannot show where he has done anything wrong.”

Yusuf also threatened legal action against some radio stations, allowing Bichi to attack individuals and the government.

The Governor warned, “We would not hesitate in taking legal actions against any medium that allows its space for the likes of Baffa Bichi to air their wrong notions and baseless unfounded insinuation on our leaders. We will not allow this to continue.”

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has praised the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, acknowledging his sterling leadership qualities, deep understanding of Islamic principles, and contemporary perspectives.

Yusuf, while receiving the Emir and his entourage on the traditional Hauwa Nassarawa homage at the Government House on Tuesday, stated that Sanusi’s return to the palace was a result of his exceptional leadership skills and commitment to the welfare of the people.

“Since he came, he has been leading us in prayers, unlike many Emirs. When we look at formal education, he has all it takes to be everywhere. An emir who loves his people,” Yusuf said.

The Governor further emphasized that Sanusi, since his reinstatement, has worked diligently to unite the emirate council and various Islamic sects, while also leading efforts against social vices in Kano. This, Yusuf highlighted, demonstrates Sanusi’s multifaceted leadership approach, combining traditional wisdom with a commitment to modern social challenges.

Governor Yusuf used the occasion to spotlight his administration’s developmental projects and reaffirmed his goal of transforming Kano into a mega city.

He mentioned that his efforts are not only focused on infrastructure but are also aimed at ensuring that local government administration aligns with the needs of the grassroots to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach all corners of the state.

“The impact of our developmental projects is becoming visible, and we are extending similar efforts to the local governments to ensure that every citizen enjoys the benefits of governance,” Yusuf added.

Emir Sanusi II Commends The Government For Reinstatement

Emir Sanusi II, in his address, expressed his gratitude to the government and the state House of Assembly for reinstating him to the throne.

He praised the state for its remarkable strides in human development, noting that the progress in education, infrastructure, and healthcare under Governor Yusuf’s leadership is commendable.

The Emir also urged local government chairmen to step up their efforts to improve living conditions at the grassroots, ensuring that the benefits of governance reach the most underserved communities.

“The local government chairmen must intensify their efforts towards ensuring better living conditions for the people,” Sanusi said.

In keeping with tradition, Emir Sanusi II participated in the 1903 traditional Hauwa Nassarawa homage, a highly regarded cultural practice.

However, due to the security concerns surrounding large public gatherings, Naija News reports that the Emir chose not to participate in the usual horse procession, opting instead to travel in a vehicle convoy to the Government House.

Sanusi also made a conscious decision to avoid the regular state road routes to the Government House, further ensuring the security of his movement and avoiding any potential conflicts.
