Just In: Jigawa Federal Lawmaker Dumps NNPP For APC

The lawmaker representing the Gwaram Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, Yusuf Shitu Galambi, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced on Thursday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during the House plenary.

Reading Galambi’s letter of defection, Abbas quoted the lawmaker to have blamed his defection on the leadership crisis and various litigations within the NNPP.

The letter reads: “I write to formally notify you, honourable members, of my decision to switch my political party membership from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“This decision follows the directives of my constituency, who are dissatisfied with the leadership crisis, litigations, and factional disputes within the NNPP.

“I appreciate the NNPP for providing the platform to be in this great chamber before the unfortunate division that has now factionalized the party.

“This decision is in accordance with Section 68 (1) of the 1999 constitution (as amended) for your guidance and records.

“Be rest assured of my commitments to the 10th Assembly, the APC-led government at all levels, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Naija News reports the defection elicited excitement and applause from members of the House who belong to the ruling APC.
