YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, has revealed that British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua is not happy with him.
Jake Paul, who has recorded a couple of boxing bouts in recent years, said he and Anthony Joshua used to chat frequently until he decided to make fun of AJ’s knockout losses.
According to the American celebrity, AJ has stopped chatting with him after warning the YouTuber, a development he believes could lead him to face the former two-time heavyweight boxers in the ring.
In an interview with SunSport, the 28-year-old celebrity boxer revealed the last message he received from Joshua, which reads: “He said, ‘I can’t wait to fight. You’re gonna be fighting for your life, and you’ll know the feeling that I’ve gone through.’ Or something like that.”
Despite the warning, Jake Paul has insisted that he can’t wait to fight Anthony Joshua, who is currently battling to return to full fitness since his knockout defeat at the hands of fellow British boxer, Daniel Dubois.
Paul, who defeated legendary American retired boxer Mike Tyson in a bout that attracted over 100 million viewers on Netflix earlier this year, said it will be “fun” for him to face AJ, 35, in front of British fans.
“My first fight was in front of an English crowd and it’s rowdy,” Paul said.
“I love walking into the lions’ den and so me versus Anthony Joshua, 100,000 people chanting ‘f*** Jake Paul’ would be pretty fun for me.”
While Joshua continues to work on his fitness, Jake Paul returned to the ring on Sunday to face former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The YouTuber won the bout with superior points.
“I think it’s back to the drawing board after this, especially depending on what the WBC and WBA rank me after I win,” he said.
“If they rank me in the position where I can go for a world championship, then we’re gonna try and get that done.”
