Inter Milan are turning up the heat in their pursuit of Ademola Lookman by exploring a player-plus-cash deal that could send Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani to Atalanta as part of the package.
The Nerazzurri have already agreed personal terms with Ademola Lookman, who is reportedly eager to make the switch to San Siro.
According to Calciomercato, Inter’s current bid of €40 million plus €5 million in potential add-ons falls short of Atalanta’s €60 million asking price, set for domestic rivals.
Now, in a bid to unlock the deal, Inter are weighing up the inclusion of Asllani in the offer to bridge the financial gap and tilt the negotiations in their favour.
Renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio earlier confirmed that Inter “are serious about Lookman” and already “have an agreement with the player.” The club sees the Nigerian international as a critical piece in new manager Christian Chivu’s plans.
The 27-year-old winger is coming off back-to-back electric seasons with Atalanta. After notching 17 goals in the 2023-2024 campaign, including a jaw-dropping hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, Lookman raised the bar again with 20 goals in 2024-2025.
His form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Atletico Madrid are reportedly circling, while Arsenal are keeping tabs as Mikel Arteta looks to inject pace and penetration into his frontline. But Inter may have the upper hand, thanks to Lookman’s openness to a Serie A stay, and a firm preference for Chivu’s project.
The Romanian coach, who replaced Simone Inzaghi, views Lookman as a dynamic threat who can operate across multiple roles in the final third. Whether out wide or in a second striker role, the former Leicester City and RB Leipzig man is seen as a perfect complement to Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.
