Gunmen on Monday stormed Konkobudo village, Idiyan axis, a border village located between Ibarapa North and Iwajowa LGAs of Oyo State, killing at least four farmers.

It was gathered that the gunmen who arrived at the village on motorcycles before sunrise on Monday hacked and shot the farmers who were asleep on their farmland.

Speaking to The Punch, a resident of the village, Ogunniyi Joel, said the remains of the victims have been taken away by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said: “They came overnight on about 10 motorbikes, shot the four farmers, hacked them and left. One of those killed is Sunday Okanlawon, a close relation.

“No one knows their identities whether they were herdsmen or not but the bodies of the farmers have been taken away by the police.”

The killing was also confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of Igangan Development Advocates in Ibarapaland, Oguntowo Abideen.

This is coming barely 24-hours after a joint team of Ibarapa security operatives, including Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Vigilante, and other groups have arrested the notorious Fulani herdsmen terrorizing Oyo communities, Iskilu Wakili.

Wakili who is notorious for killing and kidnapping several people in Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Oyo State was arrested after several attempts resulting in a gun battle.

Recall that Wakili’s second in command Isiaka Mohammed was recently arrested alongside four others.

Confirming Wakili’s arrest, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, said the Fulani warlord was arrested around 7 am on Sunday.
