“I Knew In My Heart” – Osimhen Explains Why He Chose Galatasaray Over Saudi Millions

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has explained why he turned down lucrative offers from abroad to remain at Galatasaray, insisting that his decision was guided by loyalty and a deep sense of belonging rather than financial gain.

Victor Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a record-breaking loan spell with the Turkish giants last season, scoring 37 goals and registering eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

His prolific form helped Galatasaray secure the Super Lig and Turkish Cup double, while also earning him the Golden Boot.

Despite strong interest from Saudi Pro League giants, Al Hilal and other top European clubs, Osimhen chose to make his stay permanent after Galatasaray paid Napoli €75 million to seal the deal.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the striker admitted the temptation was real but said his heart ultimately made the choice clear.

“I have had big offers from some clubs. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested, but I’m happy to be at Galatasaray,” Osimhen said as quoted by the Punch. “I already knew in my heart where I wanted to be. They valued me here…there is a really different understanding within the club.”

Osimhen has already hit the ground running this season, scoring twice in Galatasaray’s opening three league matches.

The former Lille and Wolfsburg forward is currently on international duty with Nigeria as they prepare for crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda in Uyo and South Africa in Bloemfontein.
