Grammy award-singer, Burna Boy has commiserated with his colleague, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, following the demise of his mother.
Naija News earlier reported that a close associate of Wizkid confirmed that the singer lost his mother after a brief illness.
Mrs. Balogun, who was a pillar of support for her son’s flourishing career, and often seen showing her support for him from the sidelines at concerts, died in the wee hours of today, Friday, August 18, 2023.
Wizkid’s longtime manager, Sunday Aare, also confirmed the sad news to The Punch.
He said, “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am.”
While performing at his concert in Detroit, Burna Boy took a minute to pay respect to the deceased.
The singer who called Wizkid his brother, stated that he understands the singer’s pain as he can’t imagine how it would be for him to lose his own mama.
“Before I go on, one of my brothers lost his mother, Wizkid. I want to say Rest In Peace to his mother. I can’t imagine how it would be to lose my own mama.”
