The popular and performing Young Person in the Anambra HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, representing Nnewi North Constituency, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor has opted out of the 2023 Race for the State Legislative Chamber.
He was quoted as saying “Each time I go through my Facebook, I see several flyers of aspirants contesting House of Assembly in 2023 in different constituencies, but I haven’t seen any from my constituency, Nnewi North.”
“For the avoidance of doubt and for record purposes, I do not intend to contest for a second term, due to the zoning/rotation arrangement in my town, Nnewi.”
He further stated as follows “Although there have been several arguments against the single term tradition of Nnewi, but the town still feel that the gains of the single term still outweigh the gains of ranking membership of the House based on our peculiarity as a people, and I do not intend to fight that despite the pressures.
Even though elections are not won on social media, I feel it is still important that the wind begins to blow.
I, therefore, call on the young people in my constituency to see 2023 as a time to kick-start their political career, this is also a clarion call to the young people of Anambra State to wake up in the spirit of #NotTooYoungToRun and show the leadership we all clamour to see.
