Notorious bandits leader, Bello Turji, has released a new video clip where he threatened the Hausas, the military and the government of Nigeria.
In the video clip, Bello Turji asserted that he and his followers harbour no fear of death.
Turji stated that he and his armed associates would not engage in combat if they were intimidated by the prospect of dying.
According to him, they engaged in banditry activities and killing of farmers and innocent civilians following attacks and killing of his kindred.
Naija News reports that Turji also issued threats to the government for deploying Service Chiefs to Sokoto State to confront his faction.
In the video that has circulated widely online, Turji remarked, “If we were fearful of death, we would never have taken up arms in the first place; cease sending Service Chiefs after us.”
Recently, videos emerged showing Turji and his men celebrating the acquisition of two Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) from the Nigerian Army.
However, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) refuted Turji’s assertion regarding the seizure of the MRAPs, clarifying that they had been rendered inoperable due to the troops’ inability to recover them after becoming trapped in swampy conditions during operations against bandits in Zamfara State.
On Tuesday, the Minister of Defence, along with Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa and other senior military officials, arrived in Sokoto State, announcing their commitment to initiate a military offensive against Turji and other criminal elements troubling the North West region.
Below is a summary of what Bello Turji said in the Hausa language.
“My name is Muhammadu Bello Turji. Even without mentioning my name, the whole world recognizes me. By merely seeing my face on camera, they call me a terrorist.
“We made this video to tell the whole world that we are hale and hearty, and we thank God where we are today.
“I have heard farmers, Fulanis, and Hausas threatening war against each other. I need to tell you all that no one will win this battle. Now, you have all farmed and are hoping to return home with your harvest. And everyone is hoping for peace.
“However, I need to inform you, my people, the Fulanis and Hausa, that fighting each other will not end if we continue this way. Our people have been killed on this matter, and I can assure you all that this fight will not end this way; that is why we must embrace peace.
“I am begging you all to sheath your swords, and everyone should return home in peace. We are not afraid of war, not afraid of death. If we were afraid of being killed, we would not have got to this level.
“They have killed numerous of our people, slaughtered them in hundreds. Our people have been arrested and detained unjustly. I tell you today that if you do not stop killing our people, we will not stop fighting and defending ourselves.
“I have heard people saying, why do we kill civilians, poor people? Well, it was the poor people who started the war with us, not the police, military, or government.
“I have never had the military invade any village in Zamfara because a Fulani man is killed. You kept on killing our people, and you wanted us to be silent.
“When you stop killing our people, we will also stop fighting back and embrace peace. But no one can threaten us with gun battles. Kill as many people you can kill. We will also fight back.”
