The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has disclosed that he has never in the journey of his career taken a bribe before.
Naija News gathered that the Force PRO took to X, formerly Twitter, on Monday to respond to a user who asked him about taking a bribe.
According to Adejobi, he is a crowned prince of Owu, so taking bribes would be a “ridiculous” thing for him to do.
An X user had asked the police PRO to swear by his “village deity” that he had never accepted a bribe since joining the force.
This was after Adejobi educated users in a post about paying for bail and how it is inappropriate. In the post, he wrote, “Police administrative bail is free. If anyone demands bail money, you, too, demand an invoice or receipt to prove payment. If he can’t issue it, don’t pay. That is a fraud. I have said this severally. Thanks.”
While answering the user who asked him about taking bribes, the force PRO explained how he had rejected several gifts to appreciate him in the line of his duty, so he could not even think of himself accepting bribes.
Adejobi described Nigerians as good people saying if you do your job well as a police officer, they will appreciate you and bless you in all areas.
He said, “I have answered this. PR is in me. I joined NIPR in 2004 before I joined the police in 2005. I have been a PR man before I even applied to join the police. I even reject gifts. Many people on Twitter have been willing to recharge my phone, but I appeal to them not to do.
“Those who know me know I reject gifts, let alone bribes. I am a crowned prince of Owu, so it’s ridiculous to take a bribe. If you do well, Nigerians are very nice and ready to appreciate you, and bless you in all areas, if you are a nice officer.”
