HON. MUREGI MAKING HISTORY: GIVES UNPRECEDENTED TIME, ATTENTION TO OFFICE AND WORK IN MOKWA

Another grassroots politician of inestimable value to watch out for in Niger State is the incumbent Executive Chairman of Mokwa Local Government, Comrade Jibril Abdullahi Muregi (JAM).

Unlike some Niger politicians who will make Minna their home after coming into the limelight of politics, Jibril Abdullahi Muregi who is originally based in Minna is super-actively in Mokwa, the administrative and political Headquarters of Mokwa LGA. The activities he routinely runs since his assumption of office speaks volumes of his adequate preparedness for leadership responsibilities.

In our encounter with him some days ago, he shared with us his vision of making Mokwa a booming socio-economic hub of Niger State.

Mokwa is housing some vital national assets and monuments such as Jebba Dam, River Niger, Mungo Park Cenotaph, the tomb of Manko (the founder of Bida Emirate), and Sunti Sugar Company to mention but a few.

Muregi understood this and to harness those opportunities, he was already reaching out to the family of Mungo Park in Scotland on better ways to preserve and manage the historical monument and making it a global center of attraction for tourism. He is pushing for fishing festival for the riverine areas of Mokwa (Kede Fishing Festival) by adopting the concepts of the Argungu Fishing Festival. He is also in touch with a USA-based foreign investors in a bid to replicate our model of Trailers’ Transit Park in Mokwa with a more sophisticated & ultra-modern facilities.

Mokwa has the largest landmass in Niger South and the fourth largest in Niger State with a huge potential in agriculture. Muregi is not taking it for granted in making optimal utilization of these opportunities through mechanization and industrialization for the greater good of his people.

A cursory look at how Comrade Muregi led youth movements on the actualization of HYPADEC, will leave no one in doubt of his capacity.
