Gov Alia’s Aide Praises Youths For Chasing Lawmaker’s Cows From Community

Gov Alia Administration Plans Launch Of State Security Force In Response To Persistent Herdsmen Attacks

The Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Youths and Media Mobilization, Atu Terver, has applauded youths who chased away some cows belonging to Dickson Tarkighir, a member of the House of Representatives representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency.

According to a viral video, the cows and the herders were escorted into the Nyorgyungu community in Makurdi, the state capital, on Sunday night by some security operatives.

However, things went South in the community when angry youths staged a protest to demand the eviction of the cattle and the six herders.

After some back and forth, the youths chased the cattle and the herders away from the community.

Reacting to the development, Governor Hyacinth Alia’s PSA commended the youths, saying though the lawmaker is free to do his cow business, the presence of Fulani herders at the moment was not a good decision.

The youth of the area who yesterday told Hon Dickson Tarkighir to take his cows away from the Area kept to their promise of ensuring that the cows leave the community, especially knowing that six Fulani boys look after the cows and were present with them.

“Hon Dickson is free to do cow business, but with the fulani’s at this sensitive moment in His constituency might not be the best decision. We need peace”, he wrote on his Facebook page.
