The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has approved a policy allowing officers on Grade Levels 01-14 to take two days off each week, while those on Grade Levels 15-17 will continue to have one day off per week.
In a statement released by the State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, it was noted that this initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by numerous workers, particularly regarding their daily commutes.
Onasanya emphasized that this measure is anticipated to provide significant relief and improve service delivery by fostering a more motivated and energized workforce.
He praised Governor Abiodun for his strong commitment to the welfare of employees and urged all accounting officers to promptly implement this policy within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
They are to devise strategies to ensure that implementing the day-off system does not hinder service delivery.
Onasanya also mentioned that in July 2023, Governor Abiodun had already introduced a one-day-off policy for all grade levels, and the recent extension to two days off for Grade Levels 01-14 is intended to ease the financial pressures on workers further and enhance overall productivity.
Naija News reports that the Ogun State government made this move to ease the challenges faced by the workers following the recent hike in the price of fuel, which has further increased the cost of transportation across the country.
