‘God Will Judge’ – Finidi George Says As He Reveals Osimhen Hasn’t Apologized

Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George recently addressed the issue regarding Victor Osimhen’s viral social media outburst, stating that the 25-year-old striker has not apologized for disrespecting him.

Recall that Osimhen took to his Instagram page in June to say that he has lost his respect for Finidi George because the coach reportedly said he wouldn’t beg him to play for Nigeria.

Note that this came after Osimhen missed Nigeria’s 2026 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June due to fitness issues.

Finidi, who is currently managing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, revealed that he attempted to resolve the issue by reaching out to Osimhen. However, the footballer didn’t honor the effort.

“I sent him a message that it was not the best way, just someone telling you that coach said that and you’re talking about me like I said it in an interview,” coach Finidi told Nigeria Info FM.

Finidi revealed that after his message, he did not receive a response from Osimhen, but he has chosen to move on from the incident.

“From that point, I didn’t hear from him, I moved on, and I wish everybody well; only God will judge,” the former Nigeria international added.

When asked about the suggestion of sanctioning Osimhen with a ban from the Super Eagles, Finidi George declined to comment, saying, “I don’t know, he is there already, let him be. We cannot crucify him; he has made a mistake, we have moved on, and life goes on.”

Note that Osimhen who was at the center of a transfer saga in Europe this summer, played for the Super Eagles from the bench on September 7 after sealing his move to Turkish club, Galatasaray.

He scored a goal for the Super Eagles as Nigeria beat Benin Republic 3-0 in their opening 2025 AFCON qualifiers game.
