The Public Opinion Poll of the ONE-NATION-FOREVER Project, to produce the 2021 Winner of the Pillar of Peace & Unity in Nigeria was closed yesterday, April 26, 2021, as scheduled.
The Voting that commenced on February 26, 2021 had four Nominees in the persons of Generals Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan presented to the Nigerian People to decide two finalists that will be subjected to the final verdict of the Nigerian Youth Leaders Electoral College (NYLEC).
The Result of the first phase, being the Public Poll, shows that General Yakubu Gowon and President Goodluck Jonathan polled highest, and would subsequently be presented before NYLEC on May 29, 2021 to vote for the Ultimate Winner for this year’s Edition.
The Public Opinion Poll was said to have been very keenly contested as all the Nominees polled reasonable votes and were separated by very slim margins. After the sitting of the Youth Leaders Electoral College on May 29, the final result will be made public on June 12, 2021 to mark the Democracy Day Celebration.
The Investiture Ceremony of this Year’s Winner will hold on the first week of October 2021 during the Banquet of Peace & Unity in commemoration of the 61st Independence Anniversary of Nigeria. It would be recalled that the Maiden Edition of the Honour was won by General Abdulsalami Abubakar rtd, in Year 2020.
