Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodinma, has disclosed that he and his colleagues met on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the affairs of the ruling party.
Uzodinma, however, stated that they have not reached a final conclusion on who would replace Abdullahi Ganduje as the APC National Chairman.
Naija News reports that the Imo State Governor disclosed this while briefing newsmen after a closed-door meeting with other APC governors in Abuja.
He noted that the final decision on who emerges as the substantive APC National Chairman would be taken by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
“It would be premature for anyone to speculate at this point. Consultations are still ongoing,” he said.
He added that Wednesday’s closed-door meeting was part of preparations for the upcoming NEC meeting of the APC.
“This meeting was part of our regular consultations among governors and key stakeholders aimed at strengthening the party’s programmes and ensuring effective governance as the ruling party,” Uzodimma said.
He added that the governors also planned to meet with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the NEC session on Thursday.
“Tomorrow by 2 p.m., the NEC of our great party will convene to discuss matters crucial to the future of the APC and, more importantly, how best to serve Nigerians,” Uzodinma added.
