A fuel tanker filled with gasoline has reportedly exploded at Ijora Pallete Junction beside the Lagos State Homes Estate at Ijora Badiya, Lagos State.
The explosion occurred around 1.30 p.m.
An eyewitness told newsmen that passers-by informed the driver of the tanker that there was leakage. He got down from the vehicle to use a fire extinguisher on the tanker, however, it exploded.
Firefighters and security operatives from Ijora Badiya Police Division were on ground to make sure lives and properties were secured.
The fire was later put out and there was no report on the loss of lives.
The police have diverted traffic from the road to prevent traffic congestion and prevent hoodlums from attacking innocent citizens.
According to a police officer, who pleaded anonymity, the police responded swiftly to the emergency and contacted the fire service.
