Four persons were killed on Tuesday when unknown gunmen attacked the Ebonyi office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Naija News understands the NDLEA office located at Ntezi, Ishíelu local government area of the state was the one attacked and the incident happened around 2pm.
Those killed include an NDLEA operative, a patient at the NDLEA rehabilitation center, and two of the attacking gunmen.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Loveth Odah said the attackers were repelled by security agents, and apart from the two killed, others escaped with injuries.
“Too bad, one of the officers and a patient at the NDLEA rehabilitation center were also killed.
“The security agencies are still searching the bush to get some of the gunmen, who were injured,” she said.
She added that two rifles and other ammunition were recovered from the attackers.
“Other items recovered include: 140 rounds of K2 ammunition, 36 rounds of GPMG live ammunition, 30 rounds of Ak 47 rounds of ammunition, a 4 Runner jeep, motorcycles, military and police uniforms, charms amongst others,” she said.
An NDLEA officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity also confirmed the attack and the number of persons killed.
“Security agencies repelled the attack on our office, located at Ntezi, Ishíelu local government area of the state around 2pm on Tuesday,” the Officer said.
