President Muhammadu Buhari-led government on Friday accused elites of sponsoring those clamouring for the break up of Nigeria.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, stated this at a meeting with the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).
Mohammed commended the agencies for planning the national unity campaign scheduled for October.
The minister in his statement described the plan as “patriotic” adding that the federal government is ready to partner with the organisers.
“We must resist the temptation of some very selfish elite, who are giving the impression that Nigerians will not want to stay as a
nation,” he said.
He called on Nigerians not to allow anarchists cause disunity in the country.
The minister admitted the challenges in the areas of security and the economy, and assured that the government is working hard to fix them.
