Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has announced the setting up of a disaster relief fund to assist Nigerian citizens impacted by floods and other disasters.
Naija News reports President Tinubu made the announcement on Monday in Maiduguri, Borno State, when he paid a visit to the Borno Government House over the devastating flood which recently rocked the area, triggered by the recent flooding from Alau Dam.
Tinubu visited the Shehu of Borno, an Internally Displaced Persons camp at the Government Secondary School in Maiduguri and had a drive-through of the areas affected by the disaster.
According to a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu explained that the relief fund is already expedient as the climate becomes more unpredictable and many places in the country are vulnerable to its vagaries.
He urged the private sector to contribute to the fund.
