In a significant boost to personnel across various security and correctional agencies, the federal government has approved the promotion of 20,867 senior officers in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the promotion on Friday, September 13.
He also revealed a special promotion for select officers, including two from the NCoS, four from the NIS, two from the NSCDC, and one from the FFS.
During the announcement, which was relayed by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of the Services, Dr. Tunji-Ojo detailed the breakdown: 5,329 officers from the Correctional Service, 5,112 from the Immigration Service, 9,937 from the NSCDC, and 489 from the Fire Service received promotions.
These promotions span various ranks, including Inspector, Assistant Superintendent, Controller, Comptroller, and Commandant.
In addition to the promotions, the government has approved a new training curriculum for the Federal Fire Service and a new Scheme of Service.
The Minister also noted that the 2023/24 Federal Fire Service recruitment exercise would be concluded by the end of the month.
