In an effort to find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing Nigeria and reducing emergency and disaster occurrences, the African Youth Resource Centre (AYRC) and the Youth Partnership for Peace and Security (YPPS) have conveyed an Emergency National Youth Town Hall Meeting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
In a Press Statement by the National Coordinator, Emergency National Youth Town Hall Meeting on Peace and Security, Ben Duntoye, the Town Hall Meeting with the Theme: “Youth Advancing Peace and Aiding Security; Time for Action is Now” aims at positively engaging the Youth in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and also for national integration. “The Town Hall is also aimed at engaging the Youth on thier role in emergency situation or disaster. The Importance of early engagement of young people in planning and preparedness efforts for disaster is key. Youth are assets in Emergency and Disaster Management.” he said in the statement.
According to the National Coordinator, the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum; Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi is the Key Note Speaker, while Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is the Chairman of the Town Hall Meeting. The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mallam Ahmed Mustapha Habib will be Guests of Honour.
The Royal Father of the event is His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife while the Honorable Minister for Youth and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare is the Host.
The statement said the meeting now holds on Wednesday 22nd through Thursday 23rd September 2021 at the Conference Hall, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Abuja by 9.00 am daily.
The Emergency Youth Town Hall Meeting on Peace and Security is organized in partnership with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, the Nigerian Police, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON)
