EX-Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf Named Barau FC Coach

The Nigeria National League (NNL) club, Barau FC, have named former Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf as their new technical advisor.

The second division club unveiled Salisu Yusuf as their coach earlier today ahead of the new NNL campaign.

Salisu signed a one-year contract with the club which could be extended if he can push the club to be promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the forthcoming season. The 62-year-old Nigerian tactician is expected to achieve this using his wealth of experience.

Note that Salisu has previously worked with established NPFL clubs such as Nasarawa United, Kano Pillars, Enyimba of Aba, and El-Kanemi Warriors.

His notable achievement includes leading the home-based Super Eagles to the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.

Barau FC’s participation in the 2024 Gusau/Ahlan pre-season tournament in Jos, Plateau State, presents an excellent opportunity for Salisu Yusuf to get acquitted with his team ahead of the new season.

Note that Barau FC is owned by Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, the senator representing Kano North since 2015.

At the time of writing, the handlers of the NNL were yet to officially announce when the new season would commence.
