Former Nigerian presidential candidate, Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa has been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
The politician and elder statesman was laid to rest at the Hajj Camp cemetery in Kano metropolis between the graves of his parents.
Naija News earlier reported that the Kano State-born politician died in the early hours of Monday after battling an undisclosed illness.
Recall that Tofa was MKO Abiola’s major challenger in the controversial June 12, 1993, presidential election, annulled by the Ibrahim Babangida military government.
Tofa was the presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) during the 1993 election.
