Ex-Bauchi SSG, Kashim Resigns From PDP

A former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Bauchi State and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has formally resigned from the party.

Naija News reports that Kashim’s resignation was contained in a letter dated July 21, 2025, and made available to the media on Monday.

In the letter addressed to the PDP leadership, Kashim expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him over the years, particularly during the buildup to the 2023 general elections.

“I wish to express my deep appreciation to the leadership of the party at all levels and my ward executives for the trust and opportunity to serve,” he said.

Kashim was chosen as the PDP flagbearer ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election but later withdrew from the race in deference to Governor Bala Mohammed, who had initially sought the party’s presidential ticket before returning to contest for a second term as governor.

Recalling the events leading up to the 2023 elections, Kashim stated that he voluntarily stepped down from the race in support of Governor Mohammed, describing the gesture as an act of political loyalty and solidarity.

“In solidarity with the Governor, I campaigned vigorously across Bauchi Local Government Area alongside him,” he said.

“Together, we overcame the challenges typical of a second-term campaign and secured re-election.”

Naija News recalls that Kashim was later reappointed as SSG following the governor’s re-election, a position he held until January 2025 when he resigned in compliance with a directive from Governor Bala Mohammed.

While remaining silent on his next political destination after resignation, the former SSG hinted that he would not be exiting the political scene entirely.

“Be that as it may, after due consideration, I wish to formally notify you that I have, effective the date of this letter, resigned my membership of the PDP,” Kashim wrote.

“I hope to explore other avenues to seek the mandate of our people and serve with commitment, passion, integrity, and above all, the fear of Allah (SWT).”
